“The oldest and strongest emotion of mankind is fear, and the oldest and strongest kind of fear is fear of the unknown.”
H.P Lovecraft
Like all people, I go through many emotions.
Like all people, I have ups and downs.
Like all people, these various emotions spill out into my everyday life.
Unlike all people, I am an artist, so the way it spills over is very visible in my work.
I am robust and resilient, but underneath my strong facade hides a little girl who often gets afraid of the real world, a “grown-up” world filled with challenges and stress. A world which I seldom feel part of.
Art is my escape into a dreamlike reality – a peaceful, isolated world. I want to share this safe escape with onlookers and allow them to become part of it, if only for a moment.
Creating My Own World
When I create these alternate worlds, they come alive and become as vivid as real life. Animals intertwine seamlessly with portraits of people to reflect the interconnectedness of the universe and our connection with it.
As Above So Below
Hovering fish, a bird, a butterfly and a woman. The interaction between the animals and the woman, and the play between water and air are symbolic of the collective energy binding everything together.

Silent Acceptance

As in many of my paintings, “Silent Acceptance” is symbolic of the escape to another world – a whimsical, make-believe world where the ever-present light guides you.
I do, however, associate with these words by the much-admired artist, Andrew Kayser, “I have no desire through my work to impose my thoughts and concerns on the viewer, I do not seek to control what the viewer might, if anything, take from the work.
“The only hope is that the work elicits some pleasure or concern, contemplation, or interruption, spark some memory or familiarity in you. That fragments and collisions of narrative might present possibilities that exist in memory or potential.” – Andrew Kayser https://www.andrewkayser.com/
Though I do not wish to impose my meanings on others, I do experience that my collectors can associate with the emotions and stories reflected in each creation.
