I get a lot of very interesting commissions, I want to share a few of the special commissions I did.
Some clients become friends and the appreciation of the work I did for them is inspiring and satisfying.
It is such an honour to get a little peek into people’s lives and hearts and to get to portray their stories.
“Capture the Moment”
Belinda and Riaan is a special couple who already had a few of my art pieces in their collection when Riaan contacted me and ask to do a surprise painting for Belinda for Mothers Day.
Riaan was passing through Mossel Bay on his Harley and the painting had to fit in his side saddle.
He mailed me some images of their trip to Parys which I had to use as inspiration.
“Capture the Moment” is the end product of this request.
For love… for your dream…
Juanette is an artist herself, it is always a bit intimidating for me to do work for another artist!
She asked me to do a triplicate depicting their family’s love for one another, I had to use the words of Oriah Mountain Dreamer’s poem: “The invitation”, in the painting.
I myself, am a big fan of Oriah Mountain Dreamer and read a few of her books which is so inspiring.
THE INVITATION
“It doesn’t interest me what you do for a living. I want to know what you ache for and if you dare to dream of meeting your heart’s longing.
It doesn’t interest me how old you are. I want to know if you will risk looking like a fool for love, for your dream, for the adventure of being alive.” Oriah Mountain Dreamer
Reflecting
This was a very challenging commission due to the subject matter…but how much fun doing it!!
Fred mailed me two photos: Father, son, grandson.
One photo, taken a few years ago and the other a more recent image of them. I had to combine these two images in one painting.
I decided to use the older photo, almost as a reflection, reflecting back in time on a memory they shared.
